On Monday 3th June 2024, Gia Volski, an MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and the Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, met with members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Georgia from Kyrgyzstan's legislative body to discuss bilateral cooperation. The meeting, held in Kyrgyzstan, focused on various topics, including the territorial integrity of Georgia, business facilitation, tourism, and transit infrastructure development.
Volski highlighted Kyrgyzstan as an intriguing and rapidly developing country, expressing that the Kyrgyz Parliamentary Delegation showed interest in Georgia's achievements in business facilitation and the development of transit infrastructure and highland regions. He emphasized the mutual benefits of sharing these advancements between the two nations.
Additionally, Volski mentioned that the discussions led to Kyrgyzstan's continued recognition of Georgia's territorial integrity. While he noted that it would be ideal for Kyrgyzstan to support the United Nations Resolution concerning the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to Georgia's Russian-occupied territories, an agreement was reached for Kyrgyzstan to abstain from voting against the Resolution instead of opposing it.
