Since June 14, Azerbaijan Railways JSC (ADY) has been offering new, modern trains manufactured by the Swiss company Stadler Rail Group on the Baku-Agstafa-Baku route. Of the ten trains purchased under a 2019 contract, four are already in operation and have successfully completed test runs. To enhance passenger transportation and satisfaction, ADY has added stops at Leki and Ucar stations for the first time, benefiting nearly 200,000 residents in those areas. Additionally, ADY has doubled the number of daily trips on this route, with fast trains running from Baku to Agstafa in the morning and evening, improving travel comfort for passengers in both directions.

Each newly introduced single-decker train consists of five carriages and can accommodate 270 passengers, offering standard, standard plus, business, and first-class seats. These trains are equipped with next-generation safety technology and innovative features, including a large bar-car salon for passengers to enjoy hot and cold beverages and snacks. ADY emphasizes inclusivity by providing barrier-free travel options, such as Braille signage, special entrance doors, sanitary facilities, and seating for the physically challenged. The official website also offers an accessibility menu for passengers with various health conditions, allowing them to customize the site's appearance.

ADY is committed to environmental responsibility, implementing sustainable solutions like efficient wastewater management, clean energy use, and digitalizing paper-based operations. One significant step in this direction is the suspension of paper ticket sales for the Absheron circular railway line. The "ADY Mobile" app has been launched to facilitate travel planning, and online ticket purchases through Google Pay and Apple Pay are nearing completion. Currently, 70% of passengers buy tickets online, a significant increase from 28% two years ago. Efforts are also underway to create "Wi-Fi" zones.

Recent reforms at ADY have led to substantial growth in passenger transportation services. In the first five months of this year, 3.3 million passengers traveled comfortably and safely on suburban and domestic routes, a 21% increase from the same period last year. The introduction of new trains is expected to further improve service quality and statistical results. In 2023, ADY transported 7 million passengers, more than double the pre-pandemic figures for domestic and international transportation.
