Real-Time Risk Mitigation

RADAR will utilize real-time railway asset and infrastructure intelligence to instantly address risks, disruptions, and costs associated with anomalies that could deteriorate over time. With up to 50 trains passing each anomaly per hour, potentially exacerbating the issues, RADAR’s intelligent, self-configuring pantograph network interaction (patent pending) will significantly improve railway safety. This system aims to reduce the likelihood of faults escalating into severe damage, service disruptions, or costly de-wirements.

The RADAR project is set to transform the rail industry’s approach to infrastructure management, leveraging cutting-edge technology to create safer and more efficient rail networks worldwide. By integrating advanced AI and automation, RADAR promises to deliver substantial improvements in monitoring, risk mitigation, and user interaction, paving the way for a more reliable and productive rail sector.

Rail Anomaly Detection and Response (RADAR) Project

In collaboration with Komodo Digital and key rail stakeholders such as Network Rail, Angel Trains, and Avanti West Coast, Transmission Dynamics is leading the RADAR project. This initiative aims to revolutionize the rail industry by enhancing the capabilities of their existing pantograph and overhead line monitoring system, PANDAS-V®. Co-funded by Innovate UK, RADAR will focus on the efficient detection and resolution of asset and infrastructure anomalies using data-driven decision-making and administrative automation.

Advanced Anomaly Detection

The RADAR project will introduce sophisticated, self-learning capabilities for detecting anomalies in pantographs and overhead lines. It will also automate responses to critical incidents. By leveraging Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Generative Prescription Transformers, RADAR will enhance onboard edge processing protocols based on the PANDAS-V® system.

Game-Changing Innovations

RADAR’s innovative solutions will be adaptable to various trains, pantographs, and locations. This globally advanced Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solution aims to improve efficiency and productivity in anomaly detection and response. Jarek Rosinski, Founder and CEO of Transmission Dynamics, emphasized RADAR’s potential: “The RADAR project represents a significant leap forward in rail infrastructure monitoring. By harnessing AI and automation, we aim to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability across global rail networks. Winning this competitive grant was a significant achievement, and we are committed to delivering another exceptional solution for the rail industry.”
