During a press conference, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the implementation of the Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) Programme, emphasizing the new central airport to be built in Baranów near Warsaw and the initiation of significant railway investments. The first major railway project, the Y line, will connect Warsaw, Łódź, Poznań, and Wrocław, creating a modern, efficient transportation system. This project aims to enable travel between Warsaw and major Polish cities in under 100 minutes, addressing the nation's transport needs more comprehensively than previous plans.

Prime Minister Tusk highlighted the necessity of a delay in decision-making to objectively assess the project's status and eliminate political influences from the previous administration. The revised CPK Programme ensures that the railways will connect all major Polish cities rather than just converging in Baranów. This strategic shift will reduce the number of required expropriations and distribute transport benefits more evenly across the country.

The CPK Programme, described as a triple leap into modernity, focuses on three main areas: the High-Speed Railway network, the central airport, and the development of LOT Polish Airlines. The railway network, particularly the Y line, is a cornerstone of this initiative, promising to revolutionize domestic travel. Simultaneously, modifications to the planned railway lines' alignment will significantly minimize the need for land acquisitions, streamlining the construction process.

Maciej Lasek, the Government Plenipotentiary for CPK, and Filip Czernicki, CEO of CPK, provided updates on the investment programme, emphasizing its realism and feasibility within a coordinated schedule. The airport location decision is expected by the end of the year, with construction starting in 2026 and completion by 2031. Upcoming tenders for railway projects, including the High-Speed Rail tunnel in Łódź and the Warsaw-Wrocław line, signify the government's commitment to enhancing Poland's rail infrastructure, ultimately connecting the new central airport seamlessly to the national railway network.
